Conversations Across The Aisle
What is CATA?
The
CATA Project is a carefully crafted grassroots initiative designed to bridge our
divisions and help our neighbors rediscover our common interests and values
through structured, well-informed dialog.
Our
Mission: To strengthen communities by facilitating workshops that build
capacity and appreciation for different opinions and values.
CATA is an organization which seeks to
bring together perspectives from the full spectrum of political and ideological
positions. We create space where we can engage, exchange ideas, and learn from
each other--even as we build our participants' comfort and skill in navigating
discussions about the issues of the day with people who think differently.
Workshops
The
CATA Project launched its first dinner workshop in September of 2023 and has
hosted multiple productive, respectful conversations that transcend Red versus
Blue, and helps our community rediscover the value of connecting across
political party lines. We come together with varied backgrounds, understandings
and goals and discuss topics that are pertinent to today’s political
challenges.
We
held five such workshops in our first 18 months including the following discussions
topics:
· Education: Is it still a public good, and why does that
matter?
· Protecting
voting integrity and voter access—striking the balance
·
The War in Ukraine: Local Impact of a Global
Conflict
·
Immigration: Can we find new solutions to an enduring
problem?
· When
the War on Woke is won, what do we win? And what might be lost?
