Conversations Across the Aisle launched its first dinner workshop in September 2023 and has since hosted multiple productive, respectful conversations that transcend Red vs. Blue divides. These political workshops are designed to enhance community engagement by helping communities rediscover the value of connecting across political lines. We bring together individuals with varied backgrounds, understandings, and goals to discuss pressing topics that matter in today’s political climate.
Topics our workshops have explored include:
- Education: Is it still a public good, and why does that matter?
- Protecting voting integrity and voter access — striking the balance
- The War in Ukraine: Local impact of a global conflict
- Immigration: Can we find new solutions to an enduring problem?
- After the War on Woke: What do we win? What might be lost?
- “Due Process" -- Is it a universal right?
- The evolving relationship between church and state
- "Fair Taxation?" The tax conundrum

Fair Taxation?
A framing overview of U.S. taxation history, sources and uses of tax revenue,
and a comparison of select taxation and spending patterns in the U.S.
versus other nations. Includes a brief review of Florida tax revenue sources
in the context of recently proposed legislation that will be on the ballot in 2026.
War on Woke: A conversation examining the narratives, assumptions, and implications surrounding the idea of 'Woke,' and what communities stand to gain—or lose—when the rhetoric shifts. This discussion also highlights the importance of community
engagement and includes insights from our political workshops,
fostering meaningful Conversations Across the Aisle.
