The African American-Jewish Civil Rights Alliance
We are delighted to be a partner organization for the Boxser Diversity
Initiative’s Building Bridges – Spring 2026 Discussion Series.
The February 5th BDI program features a presentation of the film, Shared Legacies. This in-person program will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota. This inspiring film presentation will be followed by a discussion with civil rights icon and former NAACP Executive Director Dr. Benjamin Chavis; and Rabbi Dr. Judy Schindler, Executive Director of Spill the Honey Foundation. Underwritten by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, you can secure your seat by registering (gratis)—click here or use the QR Code to register. You can view the theatrical trailer for Shared Legacies here.
While most of us here on the Gulf Coast know the work of Braver Angels through their signature virtual on-line debates, BA also delivers programming in-person. Check out their January 12, in-person workshop where the topic will be “Depolarizing Ourselves.” The workshop will be offered free of charge, but donations are welcome. It will be held at Braden River Presbyterian Church, in Bradenton.
You can also check out the complete roster of Braver Angel virtual and in-person events happening around the country
by visiting the Braver Angels website.
CATA is a member of the Braver Angels “Braver Network.” Our colleagues at BA are hosting a virtual session for folks who want to level up their skills when discussing important issues with people they disagree with. Details about the Skills for Disagreeing Better session, including date, time, and how to register, can be viewed by clicking on the hyperlinked text.
If you do participate, we would welcome hearing what you found most helpful, and how we might build on those skills in a future CATA gathering. This virtual workshop will be held twice in the next couple of months:
· December 13
· January 17
